Dankort is often a co-branded card that allows Danish online shoppers to pay online with Dankort for domestic debit purchases and Visa Credit for international, cross-border purchases.

Visa/Dankort is the most popular payment card in Denmark. Around 80% of all 5.5 million Danish people are in the possession of a Visa/Dankort card. 85-90% of all online purchases are paid for with debit or credit cards. Merchants already accepting Visa credit cards online and tapping into the Danisch ecommerce market, can accept and process these Visa/e-Dankort cards using their existing Visa processing route. Note that not every Dankort card is co-branded! Ecommerce merchants willing to accept Dankort payments in their ecommerce shop need a separate contract with a Dankort Acquirer. It also requires that the merchant is registered with a Danish CVR number to accept Dankort payments. Dankort transactions are normally priced a fixed fee between 18 - 25 eurocents per transaction. In case the card is treated as a Visa card, the Visa credit card commission rate will be applied.
